How Price Caliper Works
Price Caliper (pricecaliper.com) is an independent price history and coupon tracker for Harbor Freight Tools. We check 5,637 active item numbers across 185 brands once per day so you can tell whether a promoted sale is a genuine price drop or an everyday price dressed up as a discount.
1. Current Price vs. Super Coupons vs. ITC
Harbor Freight uses three different discount mechanisms, and we track all three separately so member-only prices never distort the public baseline:
- Instant Savings: Automatic public price drop at checkout or in-store — no coupon code or membership required.
- Super Coupons: Open to all shoppers (no paid membership needed), using an 8-digit code from
harborfreight.com/coupons. - Inside Track Club (ITC): Requires a paid $29.99/year membership. Shown in its own blue tier and dashed blue chart line.
2. The 28-of-90 Retail Truth Test
A discount is only marked as a Verified 28/90 Real Sale if the item was actually offered at its higher regular price on at least 28 of the last 90 days.
If an item is perpetually discounted for most of the quarter, we flag it as Always On Sale. During the first 28 days an item is tracked, we display a transparent Baseline · Day N/28 meter rather than guessing.
